Vultures And Victims

Has anyone noticed how many loan companies now fill up the
commercial breaks? Sofa, after of sofa of happy couples are
shown, with carefully manipulated stereotypes discussing the
consolidation of their finances, recommending a particular
provider. Couples, who have had loan requests knocked back from
the standard, high street or traditional credit lenders, find
themselves turning to alternative finance providers in the hope
that they can move their debt situations forward.

According to the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, there is
increasing concern that UK consumers are assuming unmanageable
amounts of debt, which may become a precarious situation should
interest rates rise or if the relatively stable macroeconomic
climate takes a turn for the worst. Despite these concerns, the
Foundation asserts:

"Even a casual observer of the financial scene in the UK will
have been struck by the increased marketing of products -
including mortgages and remortgages, car loans and debt
consolidation loans - specifically to people who have an
impaired credit record or who are finding their existing debt
difficult to mange. It might be predicted that such borrowers
would be particularly vulnerable to unmanageable debt."

Lending to people with an impaired credit record is typically
called sub-prime lending, a term more familiar with people in
the US, than the UK. A number of lenders have entered this
market who target their products to a customer market branded
sub-prime, non-conforming or non status. In the US, this market
is significantly more established and a lot of the US companies
operating in this field are now marketing their products in the
UK. The sheer size of the prime and sub-prime lender UK market
led it to be labelled the most 'complete' in the world by the
Miles review in 2004.

High street 'prime' lenders tend to operate under strict
requirements and guidelines, seeking 'prime' customers based on
criteria such as:

* Past evidence of a good repayment record
* Good personal characteristics (stable employment, income
level, registered on electoral register)

The prime lending system excludes many who wish to borrow and
may be able to repay the loans, but are not awarded the
required credit score. The Joseph Rowntree Foundation reported
that more than 25% of general credit applications and over 30%
of mortgage applications are turned down because the standard
criteria cannot be met, based on research by the Council of
Mortgage Lenders in 2002.

The type of credit offered to sub-prime borrowers is called
adverse credit. Adverse credit is available in a variety of
forms including:

* Adverse loans (incorporating debt consolidation loans)
* Adverse mortgages or non-standard mortgages (encompassing
first mortgages for sub-prime borrowers and remortgages for
sub-prime borrowers)
* Adverse credit cards

All adverse credit products impose higher rates of interest on
the borrower. Some of these financial products have been set up
to genuinely help consumers that have fallen out of the
mainstream assistance offered by high street banks. Yet there
is growing concern, that if sub-prime borrowers do not do their
homework on the options available to them, they become even more
vulnerable.

Websites such as the personal finance research specialist
Moneynet http://www.moneynet.co.uk provide extensive
information on the different adverse credit products available,
including adverse loans, adverse credit cards and non-standard
mortgages. Many sub-prime borrowers who hold adverse credit
cards complain of unduly high APRs, according to the Joseph
Rowntree Foundation. These borrowers also complain that initial
discounted rates are subsequently dropped following a single
late repayment. It is a breach of the Consumer Credit Act to
increase the rate of interest on default of repayments, but
some sub-prime lenders get round this legislation by imposing a
discounted rate which simply reverts to a 'normal' rate on
default.

The report by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation provides an
insight into the vastly inflated interest rates on some secured
debt consolidation loans and unsecured debt consolidation loans,
including some truly appalling horror stories from people who
had failed to shop around for the best deal and neglected to
read the small print.

Rustic Country Decor - How To Decorate Cottage Style Homes

Rustic country decor and how to decorate cottage style homes
are extensions of American country style decorating. In
addition, traditions are borrowed from French, English and some
Swedish country looks. Rustic country decor can be defined as
coarse, charmingly simple, unfussy, unfinished and yet with
endearing qualities. Rustic country decorating includes the use
of natural woods, aged surfaces, rough finishes and simple
lines. Cottage style homes are comfortable, modest, quaint
homes that can be made of thick stone or log wood.

Floors in rustic country decor and cottage style homes are made
with stone or wood materials. Wooden floors were traditionally
constructed with boards that were bare and simply waxed and
hand-polished (high-gloss varnishes did not exist). Sometimes
the boards were painted with light colors. If you like floor
coverings, use oriental rugs and throws for visual warmth and
color. Rustic country decor is about handcrafted objects,
simplicity, furnishings that you enjoy and connecting back to
nature.

Rustic cottage furniture is commonly made with pine and perhaps
painted with hand-painted designs such as flowers, birds,
animals, country scenery or leaves. Use ladderback chairs,
rocking chairs, benches, wicker furniture and Windsor chairs. A
large rectangular table made of pine is a good option for your
kitchen or dining room table. To give your furniture a rustic
look, brush a coat of paint on the furniture piece, then rub
most of the paint off. After it dries, apply wood stain
unevenly for an older weathered appearance. It will be perfect
and rustic looking!

Baskets can be used to store wood, pine cones, flowers, plants
and needlework. Brass candle holders, oil or kerosene lamps,
sconces, hurricane lamps, tin lanterns, recessed ceiling
fixtures or a vintage wrought-iron or metal chandelier provide
successful lighting for rustic country decor and cottage style
homes. Colors used in rustic country decor or cottage style
homes are neutral tones ranging from white to bone, earth
tones, red barn, blues and greens.

For rustic country decor in the kitchen, use open shelves,
hutches, buffets, plate racks and cupboards for storage. Often,
country kitchen storage is crammed with stoneware pots, plain
glazed earthenware and glass jars. Kitchen pots should be made
of copper, steel or cast iron - cookware tends to be large and
plain. Use open shelving in the rustic country kitchen to
display plates, dishes and dinnerware collections. Natural
woods, light colors and bright fabrics work great for window
treatments. Adding a rustic butcher block island creates a
wonderful visual effect as well as provides useful
functionality.

A rustic country decor bathroom has neutral tones or soft
colored walls, antique-looking lighting, and wooden antiques or
antique reproduction cabinets and vanity. Knowing how to
decorate cottage style homes and bathrooms can result in
creating a calm and elegant atmosphere. Clawfoot tubs, pedestal
sinks, country style antique brass faucets and old-fashioned
country cabinets provide the kind of atmosphere that makes you
want to spend time there. Plain white towels are recommended
instead of patterned or bright modern patterns. Use wicker or
wire baskets to keep your sponges, loofas and shampoos handy
near the tub or shower.

Understanding how to decorate cottage style homes means
including items like quilts, antique furniture or
reproductions, flea-market pieces, trunks, chests, armoires,
stenciling, wallpaper, adirondack chairs, flower wreaths and
bistro chairs. These types of elements give cottage style homes
the kind of rustic country decor that is simpler, very personal
and warmly inviting.

Whether in a seaside setting, an urban environment, a
countryside location or a wooded mountain retreat, cottage
style homes are cozy and unassuming, combining the past with
the present. Read all you can find and learn what creating the
rustic country cottage means to you no matter where it is
located. Enjoy expressing your personality and showing what the
definition of home means to you.

Bottled Vs Tap Water: Uncovering the Myth to Protect Your Kids' Drinking Water

Bottled Vs Tap Water: Uncovering the Myth to Protect Your
Kids' Drinking Water

If you sit down and think about the bottled water you're
sipping from, you realize something really peculiar. Bottled
water companies sell a product freely available to every man,
woman, and child. And they sell it very, very successfully.

Bottled water in America comprises a multi-billion dollar
industry that's growing. In fact, it's the fastest growing
segment of the beverage industry. And why is that?

Advertising gives you the impression that bottled water
is healthier and safer for you and your kids. You're
convinced to hand over your money for their product at the
store with images of crystal clear water in ads and
commercials, which have you believing bottled water provides
higher quality than what comes out of the faucet at home.

Well, I've got some not-so-good news. Most bottled drinking
water, at best, is as good as tap water. In fact, in the
month of March in 1999, the National Resources Defense
Council reported that over 40% of bottled water comes from
city water systems, just like tap water. So in this case,
you're unnecessarily paying for tap water wrapped in a
bottle, label, and lid, not higher quality water from some
natural spring.

Here's another eye opener: Companies who bottle and sell
water are under the same regulations and purity standards as
city water systems. if they sell their water across state
lines. The key phrase being "across state lines".

Most companies get around those watchful government eyes by
only selling their water within the same state they have it
bottled! Because when they do that, they are pretty much
unregulated by government agencies. So the next time you go
the supermarket look on the label and see where it was
bottled. More than likely, you'll see the same state you're
currently residing in.

Here's what this all means:

City water systems that provide tap water have to test for
water pathogens that can cause intestinal problems in your
children, like diarrhea. Bottled water companies don't have
to do this.

City tap water has to meet a specific standard for some
toxic, potentially cancer-causing chemicals. Bottled water
isn't held to the same standard.

City water systems must inform you about what in the water
they offer you every year. Bottled water companies actively
resisted the same requirement for their water, and they
continue to resist this and other policies that require them
to be subjected to stricter regulations and be more upfront
with you, the public. And the list goes on.

Bottled water companies don't deliberately try to put the
health of you and your children at risk. Nor do they
outright lie to you about the safety of their water.

But if you think drinking bottled water will spare you from
any possible illness associated with contaminants found in
tap water, you're buying on blind faith. And joining
millions of people who make many companies billions of
dollars based on an unproven premise. When it comes to your
kids' health, why take a chance? And why waste your money?(Resource Box for Ezine Publishing)

Find the Right ATV Style from Dependable Brands

In the realm of ATVs, Honda and Polaris are two of the leading manufacturers because they have both utility and sport models and each brand has proven to provide quality off-road all terrain vehicles. When it comes to dependability, Honda dominates in riders reviews for both the farming and ranching ATVs and the race vehicles. Honda ATVs are depended on and considered highly reliable because the Honda company has spent so many years producing quality on the road and off the road vehicles.

Honda's sport ATVs have motors and suspension kits special to the riding atmosphere of racing. Sport ATVs are for catching air and fast riding through rough terrain. The suspension kit and motor are customized for this type of riding, which makes Honda's sport ATVs the right quad for the job.

Utility ATVs are the second classification of Honda four-wheelers. These ATVs have no problem getting through tough areas because they are made to use for farming, hunting and fishing so you can get to the hard to reach spots with no problems. Both classifications of Honda ATVs include a variety of engines and other features to choose from.

The sport and utility quads from Honda have their pros and cons, but most riders and racers trust a Honda overall. Some reviews criticize the ground clearance of certain models of Honda ATVs or the slow engine kick-up, but in the end, riders writing the reviews agree that Honda ATVs are the most reliable and durable, which is what counts the most.

Close in line for dependability and toughness, are all Polaris ATVs. Several of Polaris' Sportsman ATVs are some of the best selling in the United States. Polaris ATVs have separate classifications, such as rancher or sport vehicles, but most models can achieve a diversity of tasks in both categories. Several Polaris ATV models are used as farming and hunting quads but they are also reliable as a fast, racy, motocross style vehicle.

The fact that Honda and Polaris have utility and sport ATVs that can serve well in both areas may confuse some consumers. Knowing what kind of ATVing you will be doing is the best way to determine which ATV will be best to ride. All ATVs are very capable of pushing the boundaries of where you can go off road, but some, especially racing quads, need special designs in order to accommodate your uses fully.

For this reason, sport ATVs are separated because of their specialty suspension, different type of motors and other race specific features. Sport racing ATVs also have a lighter weight design than utility vehicles for quicker movements. Utility ATVs are commonly used for loading and hauling things, which calls for a larger exterior to carry objects.

By knowing the difference you can make a better choice. Which category you choose is only significant if you are using the ATV for one specific purpose or the other. If you're in the middle or you plan on putting your ATV to several uses, both types will get you where you need to go.Mitch Johnson is a successful freelance author that writes regularly for http://www.atv-parts-n-accessories.com/ , a site that focuses exclusively on atv reviews, as well as tips on choosing parts and accessories. Solar Power: An Alternative Energy Whose Time Has Come

So you're finally tired of those exorbitant electricity bills, or, you're catching onto a "greener" way of life. Either way, solar power may have many advantages for you and your home.

There are many obvious positives to using solar power. One is that solar power produces no waste. We all benefit when there are fewer pollutants in the air. The rays of the sun, which are the source of solar power are free, and, without doubt, the sun will rise each morning. In other words, solar power is an absolutely free and renewable energy source. Even local governments are jumping on the solar bandwagon. Perhaps you may have noticed in your local area your state highways using solar powered signs warning of roadwork.

There are initial high costs involved in outfitting your home for solar power but the savings realized over the years will quickly make up for the start-up costs.

The most popular way of harnessing solar power for most homeowners is through the use of solar panels. These solar panels are made up of what are called photovoltaic cells which are able to covert sunlight directly into electricity. These solar panels are placed on the roof of a building. The size of the solar panel is determined by the amount of energy needed. The panels can easily be added onto if needs increase. Some new homes are now being built using these photovoltaic cells as roof tiles.

These solar panels are generally easy to install for most DIY'ers. They require virtually no maintenance, and will last for decades.

There are other ways to take advantage of the sun's energy. If you are building a new home and have solar power in mind talk with your architect. You can have your new home built facing the sun where it can take full advantage of the energy and warmth. Have large windows installed to take in as much light as possible, especially in winter months when the sun is lower in the sky. Plant trees that will shade your home in the hot summertime.

Some states offer their residents solar energy grants that will repay a portion of the costs associated with installation. These grants give homeowners incentives for solar water and photovoltaic systems, with some refunding up to $5,000.00. Check with your local energy administration bureau. Ten Ways To Make Your Affiliate Site More Profitable

Is your affiliate website ready for business? You may have your
content written and your affiliate products in place, but there
are more things you can do to make your site more profitable.

1. Have a specific theme for your site and make sure your
content, logo and other graphics are relevant to that theme.
Don't add kitty graphics to a website about gaming.

2. Have as much original content - content that you have
written yourself - on your site as you can. Your visitors don't
want to read the same articles on a website that they have just
seen on the one they were just at.

3. Create "printer friendly" pages for your important content.
People are looking for information. Let them print it out. When
they go back to read it later, they'll see your site's url at
the bottom of the page.

4. Put your web pages into a logical order. Think like your
visitors and group like content pages together. Make your site
as "user friendly" as possible.

5. All links should be "clickable." Check and recheck the links
to other pages and to your affiliate products.

6. Create a Frequently Asked Questions page - especially if you
sell your own products. When someone asks a question, publish
that question, with your answer, in your FAQs.

7. Have contact information available on each of your web
pages. Create a link to a Contact Me form instead of using an
email addres. This will cut down on the amount of spam that you
receive.

8. Offer Freebies. Free reports, ebooks, autoresponder courses
and newsletters give your visitors a reason to come back. Set
up an autoresponder for each freebie to help build your
subscriber list.

9. Continue to add more valuable content to your site. One way
to do this is to add an article directory to your site.
Allowing your website visitors to add their articles will
create good content for other visitors and it will help get
their article noticed. It's a win-win situation for all.

10. Add links to other sites. Make sure those links are to
websites' themes are compatible to yours. This will ad interest
as well as increasing your search engine ranking.

Using the above methods will increase visitors to your site. By
adding fresh, valuable content regularly those visitors will
return. The more people that come to your site (and return to

Machiavelli Hangman: The New Age Of Digital Filmmaking

Machiavelli Hangman: The New Age Of Digital Filmmaking
Copyright © 2005 Claudia Diaz

It was a regular day, at a regular get-together at a regular
house, or so it seemed. The cast of the latest Independent
Hollywood offering The
Machiavelli Hangman
had come together to rehearse the scenes and do some interviews
with local newspapers.

While the brouhaha settled and everyone gathered around the table
to read the script, everyone radiated an aura of mystery about
them as if they were in on a big secret that no one else had
access to. The cast of Machiavelli Hangman welcomed me right in
and offered me a seat as my nose, ears and fingers buzzed in
anticipation to hear them start.

I had heard a few details about the production and how it was
going to be this great big thing like Rashomon and Pulp Fiction
combined but better. How it would change the face of cinema as we
knew it like the Searchers did or the Sixth Sense a few years
back. That it would give birth to the age of digital filmmaker
where everyone with a good story could be nominated for the
Oscars. Call me a skeptic but I have seen some good independent
films but nothing that I could say I could see win best picture.
I have always reserved that slot for big movies like the English
Patient or Gladiator. Those films that show years of labor to get
to where they are. Somehow I would feel, cheated you could say,
to pay 10 dollars for a film that didn't cost a lot more to make.

So I went into this thinking "oh well, I'll go for the buzz and
if it's decent, I'll stay for the drink," even though it usually
works the other way around.

So there I was, quietly waiting for the first few uttered words
of the script to form an opinion in my head of whether this was
really the next Reservoir Dogs as everyone had said or just a
cheap rip-off. I waited to see if the dialogue had the flair of a
Quentin Tarantino or the rust of an Ed Wood. And there it was the
first line that launched the script "And they stood there, two
headless men in cobalt-blue suits, one fatter than the other."

Then within minutes, I was caught in a gun fire with words flying
around at the speed of light. Witty comebacks ricocheting off the
actors like bullets, then it all stopped and repeated. For a
moment, I thought that it was a retake, but as I looked over the
director who was sitting there behind his dark glasses and his
fingers interlaced in front of him, I realized that this
repetition was part of the story.

In my mind, I realized I had been taken and my eyes were wider
than appropriate for a professional like myself so I slightly
squinted and I closed my mouth that had been left open for a
little too long.

The twists kept coming and although I had never in my life been
able to focus on a story if someone else read it, this time, I
drowned into the script as if the movie was unraveling right in
front of my eyes. The special effects dazzled in my imagination
and I was utterly surprised at how entertaining a story could be
with the same scene repeating so many times. Like many others, I
have seen Rashomon, and Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs, and
Memento, yet I was still amazed at how this film managed to
surprise me at every flip of the page.

So I was glued to the seat until the last page and I looked down
realizing that time had flown by and I hadn't made a single note.
And I hadn't had a single sip of my free drink that was the
reason why I had come here in the first place. Could it have been
that I had gotten a change of heart? Then I looked for the writer
of the piece
Shervin Youssefian
to congratulate him but I was caught in a frenzy of applause and
excitement. I got caught in the excitement and joined in the
cheers as I looked on in awe at revolution in the midst of its
rise. The age of digital filmmaking was about to set off and I
was proud to be present while it happened.

Now I tell you and I tell everyone who asks, if this film turns
out half as good as it is on the page, you can mark my words, it
will be the first digitally-shot film to be nominated for the
Oscars.Claudia Diaz is a current journalism major at her University.

MORAL ARMOR'S Irrational Parenting, Part II

MORAL ARMOR'S Irrational Parenting, Part II
Copyright 2005 Ronald E Springer

Handing Down Malignancy.

Children may begin bright and eager to face the world, but
are often inundated with the conditioning of their
fear-ridden predecessors speaking of lost dreams-taken by
no one in particular. Their guardians appear learned, but
seem not to damn the worst traits in men. In facing life's
greatest question, venturing into their future lives based
solely on the hopes of an untested mind, they are offered
an alternative. The fear-preying lure of their elders is to
stay common and small. In place of goals, there will be
duty. In place of love, there will be dependency. In place
of identity, there will be pretense. In place of
understanding, there will be orders. In place of
agreements, there will be domination. In place of respect,
there will be power. In place of standards, there will be
social sentiment. In place of reason, there will be faith.
In place of dignity, there will be sacrifice. In place of
progress, there will be culture. For their submission, they
are offered unconditional acceptance.

Schooled evil has a nightmare advantage over unskilled
virtue. Against a more complete and experienced evil,
adolescent innocence stands little chance. With a wider
certainty in the field of corruption, such cowards always
seek to dominate the unformed. They have many more methods
than someone newer to life or to a given context who walks
a fragile line for the first time-carefully forming his
epistemological trunk prior to branching. Imagine
four-year-old eyes, staring up at evil-guilty of the sin of
perception, a trait crucial to the survival of any living
thing-serving animals, but damned in Man. Not helping to
arm him for life, this evil is intent on knocking the
weapons out of his hands, forcing him to give in to the
void, which will be filled by patterns of expropriation,
designed in response to their own fears. Youth must
hesitate, not because nature requires it, but because
social flaws and immoral conditioning get in the way of
truth. A desert island youth would skip this phase.

There are only two ways to corrupt a human being. First, by
direct physical harm or its precursor, threats of
consequence, as such action disrupts the function of the
entity. Second, by providing a context that makes it okay
for the entity to harm itself, to convey or frame thoughts
in a way that sanctions the debilitation of the victim's
own life-furthering potential.

A mind disconnected from living usefulness cannot convey
the importance of ability. A mind relishing the spectacle
of getting away with anything, disconnects its offspring
from virtue. With each generation it degenerates; the
victims are driven further from the grounding patterns of
cause and effect, further from rationality, further from
morality and further into its inevitable
results-self-hatred and stagnation. The hidden desires of
the first generation become the open desires of the second.
The third acts on them, not realizing the dreams of the
first, but the true end, dysfunction. First, they go to
unwanted jobs arguing that they shouldn't have to, then
raise children who aren't employable. They in turn abide by
laws which they claim limit their rights to the work of
others, then raise children who steal. In each successive
generation they wipe out a level of values, and the ability
to identify them. They shorten their own intellectual
range, and stunt their children's in turn. By stunting any
means to a clean sense of self-worth, their children are
that much more willing to participate in what disregards it.

The correct philosophical knowledge has been available for
thousands of years-predating Christianity-held back by
parents and leaders who prefer to see their children's
hampered, helpless spirits die just to stave off the fear
of discovering their own unnamed inadequacies. They chose
our pain and limitations in order to hide from their own.
Men are brought into the world fully armed, with no need
for tampering of any kind. It is the Spirit Murderers who
slowly take his weapons from him. Their method to bring
about submission, helplessness and penance, breeds
Self-made Man's antithesis: the dependent. This method of
creating zombies to do the bidding of the Fear-driven is
identical to their own pattern of degenerative development.
When he doesn't have to acknowledge ability-human beings
shrink back to a level he need not fear.

I know how social trends work; I know Moral Armor will have
many opponents. There will be mothers screaming their
hatred, safely aiming it away from themselves and towards
me, delivering their children into the hell of their own
stagnant processes, forever unwilling to face and except
responsibility for the result of their own actions. Instead
of mature growth, they'll commit the ultimate evil-the
spirit murder of their own offspring-sacrificing them to
feed the headless monster of their own denial.

It took a long time to realize what the older generations
have been doing to the younger, and I can see why many
turned to drugs. We're worse off because of what they've
had us automate. We were harped on if we did bad. We were
ostracized and ignored when we did too well. With no path
to harmony, escape is sometimes the only option. The moral
default of our elders has made life intolerable for
everyone. Enough is enough. Many of them don't exercise
their power responsibly, so it is time to take it away from
them. No more power over us and over the world's future. No
more running it into the ground. Their true error,
intentional or not, is that they use their consciousness
improperly, and they don't want to redeem their errors. How
many lies do they intend to take to the grave? By
understanding the nature of consciousness and the sound
moral base for all thought and action, we can reveal the
true moral sanction for how we live and interact every day.
Then we can break free from their domination and see the
world honor the new management.

Our next installment will focus on a surprising source of
typical cognitive abuse; which is a challenge for even a
good parent to avoid!Ronald E. Springer is the Author/Philosopher of Moral

Your Home and Your Heart

Do you get warm feelings in your heart when you think about your
home? Is it emotions or the onset of a heart attack?

Research is now pointing a finger at our houses as the leading cause
of heart disease.

Time magazine recently did an article on inflammation (Feb 23,
2004) and its affect on the human body. These effects include a wide
range of problems, including:

Alzheimer's
Cardio vascular issues
Arthritis
Colon cancer.

Our inflammatory systems are there for a reason . to prevent disease
and injury. It is the body's response to invasion by little
creatures that
want to do us harm.

But sometimes, like a juvenile delinquent, our systems go bad.

Sometimes, the army we sent to the site of an injury or infected
area,
mistake our body parts for invaders. Instead of this army destroying
bad guys, it focuses on destroying us.

Old Ideas

For many years, researchers thought of heart and vascular disease as
a "plumbing problem." The patient just consumed too many steaks
and the fat clogged their arteries.

The solution therefore was to take a bunch of pills to "unclog the
pipes." Or, if the doctor was old fashioned, they might recommend
lowering the consumption of fatty foods. After all, a modern doctor
uses pills to make people well.

But how do they explain the heart patient with a low level of fats
in
their blood? It's like trying to explain away the AIDS patient with
NO HIV virus. "Er, ah, ah er well take the pills anyway. And don't
forget to pay the receptionist on the way out."

New Ideas

It seems the medicines that work the best for stopping heart disease
also fight inflammation.

Its INFLAMMATION.

We have been spending so much time finding better pills to fight the
problem of heart disease that we have overlooked the cause. Its
INFLAMMATION!

The CAUSE

And what is the prime cause of inflammation in the body? Household
mold toxins. We breathe them in and they absorb into our blood
stream. Our bodies overreact to their presence and attack us,
punching holes in our blood vessels and eating away at our heart
tissue. The body lays down fatty deposits (cholesterol) in our blood
vessels to plug the holes.

These fatty plugs restrict blood flow through small vessels.
Sometimes
they break loose and trap in the heart tissue (heart attack) or they
get
stuck in small blood vessels in the brain (stroke).

Conclusion: We don't need more pills that cause side effects
requiring
MORE pills. What we need to do is prevent the inflammation. Kill
the mold for a start. But only use all natural methods. Most of the
mold killers on the market will cause inflammation. Here we go again.

Do You Have A Fitness Battle Plan?

In fitness, as in war, you want to be on the offensive, not the

defensive and this means that rather than reacting to maladies

as they occur, far better to be in good general physical

condition; preventive maintenance is preferable to remedial

effort every time. One general rule of thumb I use is energy is

the basic coin of the fitness realm and without it is damned

difficult to mount any kind of serious fitness effort.

To obtain energy to power through workouts is the first order

of business: if you are tired all the time, exhausted by life

and unable to get it together physically or psychologically, I

would suggest two immediate lifestyle changes -- cut back on

the amount of food and begin walking every morning. Overeating

is an energy-sapping culprit. Too many calories, particularly

the wrong kind, the type that cause insulin to spike or the

type of nutrient that converts easily to body fat, will drain

energy faster then leaving the car door open all night and

keeping the lights on. Early morning walking, particularly done

out of doors, is invigorating. Plus early AM power walking

elevates the basal metabolic rate. The rate at which the body

oxidizes calories is kicked up by cardio in general and most

particularly by cardio done on an empty stomach.

Another trick of the trade is to have a cup of coffee or a

caffeine-laced tea before the cardio walk. Caffeine on an empty

stomach taken in combination with exercise accelerates the

mobilization of trans-fatty acids. After an all-night

sleep/fast the body is low on glycogen, the emulsified form of

carbohydrate, when aerobic activity is performed the body will

burned stored body fat to fuel the cardio activity. If you ever

travel to a hardcore bodybuilding gym early in the morning

you'll see all the hulking bodybuilders performing cardio. They

are there to take advantage of this particular physiological

anomaly and burn off body fat via pre-breakfast cardio.

In addition, hitting an aerobic-style exercise session before

breakfast elevates to metabolism for hours after the conclusion

of the session and elevating the heart rate in a systematic

fashion improves heart and lung functionality and food

digestion. Perhaps the strongest rationale for early morning

cardio is that by doing it 1st thing it GETS DONE! Life has a

way of throwing obstacles galore in our path as the day's

events unfold and by hitting a walk around the neighborhood 1st

thing, daily events and cumulative fatigue will not derail the

session. Start with a comfortable walk at a comfortable pace

and add one minute per session. If you power walk five times a

week and start off with a 10-minute session, at the end of a

month the session will be up to 30-minutes.

At that point, 30 minutes five times weekly, keep the frequency

and the duration and consciously seek to increase the intensity,

i.e. walk faster. This creeping incrementalism eases you into

the game. In conjunction with the walking, cut back on the

caloric intake. After calories are reduced, clean up the food

selection. Again all this flows together in a loose momentum

building effort. More walking, early morning walking, fewer

calories, better selection.your energy will skyrocket and the

effort will unfold in a sane rational fashion. After a month or

two, add in some progressive resistance training and you'll be

shot from a proverbial fitness cannon. The nice summer weather

makes early outdoor walking a joyful experience and when we

truly enjoy an activity we seek to repeat it -- this melding of

enthusiasm with exercise is the long-term secret to fitness

success.arty Gallagher is a former Strength columnist
